Louisiana hiring teachers from a 3rd world country

Recent news speaks about the Louisiana Public School System hiring teachers from the Philippines.

According to the American Federation of Teachers, Louisiana ranked 39th in the nation for its average teacher salary (2006-2007).

Comparatively, US school administration employees are compensated quite handsomely.

Something’s wrong with this picture!

For a country which claims to place high importance on education it seems counter productive to hire teachers from a 3rd world country.

Since Mr. Obama has stated he will penalize companies who take US jobs out of country one must wonder if he will do anything about Louisiana’s actions.

From a comment board regarding this subject:

I teach high school in Louisiana and I make — hope you are sitting down— $26,500 per year!
