Pam Spaulding, Monique Hoeflinger, Michael Wilson, Julia Rosen. It was a great discussion with a lot of time spent on how we need to focus on ensuring that "The People's Veto" goes down in flames. Louise can tell you all about that. As far as California and the split between the 2010/2012 camps, it was a vigorous discussion (Julia is with the Courage Campaign, which backs a 2010 ballot initiative) that included the issue of minority and religious outreach.
Louise, Monique Hoeflinger just gushed at how wonderful you are. I told her that it was great for the Blend to have you on the ground in the state to keep tabs on the efforts there. Kate shot some video. It's unedited and below the fold.
I have no idea what Kate shot here, so you all will have to comment... :)
God, what is going on in this country? It's like a giant slice of America (clearly the same 20%-25% that always managed to think, even at his lowest point, that George W. Bush was doing a good job) has just lost it. The tinfoil hat, birther and teabagger crowds are being stoked with this insanity. Media Matters:
“A new tide of popular grassroots opposition to the Obama Democrats' senseless policies and insatiable hunger for power is rising across America." -- former Senator Rick "Man on Dog" Santorum
Someone's on the crack pipe. I suppose he fits right in with the birthers, teabaggers and the rest of the batsh*t base -- but how on earth can he broaden beyond that demo?!
Add former Sen. Rick Santorum to the list of potential 2012 Republican presidential acandidates.
POLITICO has learned Santorum will visit first-in-the-nation Iowa this fall for a series of appearances before the sort of conservative activists who dominate the state GOP’s key presidential caucuses.
...Santorum, an outspoken social conservative known by Republicans nationwide for his anti-abortion activism, could find support among the many conservative Christians who reliably participate in the GOP’s presidential caucuses.
Citing energy and health care, Santorum said: “One of the reasons I wanted to talk to the Right to Life folks is we can’t lose the moral component of those two bills as well as a lot of other things going on in Washington.”
I love how MSNBC's First Read sums up Little Ricky's potential:
Just askin’: Can a guy who lost Pennsylvania -- a battleground state -- by almost 60%-40% be a presidential contender?
And check out the Iowa visitor list of potential GOP Clown Car occupants so far:
