AND THE NOMINEES ARE: The 2009 Tony nominations were announced on Tuesday and Sir Elton John's opus Billy Elliot, The Musical led the pack with a total of 15 nominations. Meanwhile Jane Fonda and Angela Lansbury also earned nominations, as did American Idol reject Constantine Maroulis who was nominated for Best Male Lead in a Musical.
Today the Human Rights Campaign raised the Maine flag over its headquarters in Washington, DC on the day that Maine Governor John Baldacci signed a marriage equality bill passed by the state legislature, making Maine the fifth state in the U.S. to allow same-sex couples to legally marry under state law.  Watch a video of the flag raising here.
