Combined Gay News Headlines (T5T-1)

This time last year, 15-year-old California eighth grader Lawrence "Larry" King was killed in his junior high English class. Two bullets to the head. Classmate Brandon McInerney, now 15, allegedly pulled the trigger after King asked him to be his Valentine. And while McInerney is on trial (as an adult) for first-degree murder and committing [...]

It's usually painful to watch The View, but sometimes having it on in the background isn't so bad. Especially when segments like this pop up, where Whoopi points out the ridiculousness of anyone criticizing All My Children's lesbian wedding — when soap opera plotlines are built on characters getting married and divorced handfuls of times, [...]
Queer Fresno has made some awesome changes in their leadership team in the last couple of weeks and we wanted to share them with you.  First of all, Chris Fleming has been promoted to the role of Vice President.  Chris has been a long time blogger and one of QF’s first officers a year ago.  [...]
If you’ll direct your eyeballs over to the right side of the page you’ll see a bunch of links. Most of which you’ve likely never clicked before, so perhaps you’ll not notice the difference. Down at the bottom though there are now links to Queer Fresno’s Myspace and Twitter feed as well as Queer Networks [...]
Break out the tiny violin for Darth Cheney! SWEET!
Sources close to Cheney told the Daily News the former vice president repeatedly pressed Bush to pardon Libby, arguing his ex-chief of staff and longtime alter ego deserved a full exoneration - even though Bush had already kept Libby out of jail by commuting his 30-month prison sentence.

...In multiple conversations, both in person and over the telephone, Cheney tried to get Bush to change his mind. Libby was convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice in the federal probe of who leaked covert CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity to the press.

Several sources confirmed Cheney refused to take no for an answer. "He went to the mat and came back and back and back at Bush," a Cheney defender said. "He was still trying the day before Obama was sworn in."

...The vehemence of Cheney's last-minute onslaught has struck some Bush loyalists as excessive. "At some point you have to accept the decision of the guy who appointed you," one of them said after learning the details. "I think Cheney was over the top."

This is too much. If you thought Daddy D and Concerned Women for America were part of the lunatic fringe of the bible beating set, think again. A group called Exodus Mandate gives these  luminaries of the Religious Right a nearly failing grade on the culture wars. Looks like poor Tony Perkins and the Family Research Council need to go to summer school (or perhaps more accurately, summer bible camp).

Chaplain E. Ray Moore issued a Report Card at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) in Nashville, Tennessee, on Feb 10, 2009, at a news conference, on how effectively major Christian ministries and organizations support K-12 Christian education or home schooling. Nine organizations were rated, many of which have actively engaged in the cultural war in the US for the past several decades. Moore said, "Even though these organizations have been valiantly fighting the culture war, they have suffered terrible defeats. They have not been able to arrest and reverse the moral and cultural slide by protests, lobbying, voting and legislative remedies. It's time for these ministries to revisit their methodology and ask themselves if there is a biblical model for spiritual and cultural renewal." The nine criteria used to rate the organizations in the K-12 Christian education Report Card included: promoting a Christian worldview and not promoting K-12 public schools as morally equivalent to Christian and home schools.

More below the fold, including a video by the founder of Exodus Mandate.
I blogged about this AmTaliban organization earlier this year when its founder, retired U.S. Army Chaplain Lt. Col. E. Ray Moore, released a deranged video, "Call to Dunkirk," to fulfill the mission of the organization, which is...
"to encourage and assist Christian families to leave Pharaoh's school system (i.e. government schools) for the Promised Land of Christian schools or home schooling. It is our prayer and hope that a fresh obedience by Christian families in educating their children according to Biblical mandates will prove to be a key for the revival of our families, our churches and our nation."
