The Roman Catholic church in Scotland has launched another attack on gay and lesbian people, claiming their relationships reduce life expectancy and are inherently unstable.

A Roman Catholic leader in Malta has said that church members who do not accept "Christ's teachings" should leave altogether.

The President of the United Nations General Assembly has said that all people share a capacity for cruelty to each other. A ceremony was held at UN headquarters in New York yesterday marking Holocaust Memorial Day.
