''I have short hair, I don't shed and I'm hypo-allergenic -- it's leather, not latex,'' he said off the cuff to the judges' intentionally farcical question. Dressed in full leather, with a bright-yellow tie, he was sure to call attention to what he said should be the first pup's first order of business. ''As my first duty, I'd piss on you, George W. Bush.''
Held last weekend -- and every year during the holiday weekend commemorating Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday -- this year's M.A.L. overlapped with the historic and hotly anticipated Obama Inauguration, giving the event a special energy. ''There's a lot of excitement in the air -- of course it's because everyone knows it's our 25th anniversary,'' M.A.L. Promotions Chair Larry Barat joked at Friday night's opening press reception. ...more

''It was disappointing that the only chorus recognized onstage was the Naval Academy Chorus, but it doesn't diminish the importance of our participation in the event, putting a face on our dream for equality,'' he says, adding that it was of greater relevance for the GMCW contingent of 110 -- about half the full chorus -- to sing ''My Country 'Tis of Thee,'' making a forceful statement for inclusivity. ...more

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) | Jan. 22 at 3:32 PM Jan. 22 at 3:32 PM
Four Portland newspapers and the city police union are calling on the mayor to resign, after he admitted he lied by denying he had a sexual relationship with a teenage boy.
Mayor Sam Adams admitted this week that he lied to cover up his relationship with a teenage legislative intern because a potential mayoral candidate had spread rumors that Adams had sex with a minor.
Adams, 45, said the teen was 17 when they met in 2005, and that the relationship did not turn sexual until the boy turned 18. He said he lied because he was afraid voters wouldn't believe that his young lover had turned 18 before they started having sex.
