Combined Gay News Headlines (T5T-1)

If you name your underwear line "Macho," you're asking to be ridiculed — especially when one of your styles is a zebra-print g-string thong. That is, of course, unless you can back up that macho claim, as Macho Underwear most certainly did.CONTINUED » Permalink | post a comment | Add to del.icio.us | Digg Post tags: macho underwear, Photos, Underwear
"But then I realized something else: if virginity is considered that valuable, what’s to stop me from benefiting from that? It is mine, after all. And the value of my chastity is one level on which men cannot compete with me. I decided to flip the equation, and turn my virginity into something that allows [...]
As if Ted Haggard's downfall from respected homophobic preacher to gay prostitution john and drug user couldn't get worse, it has: Haggard's relationship with escort Mike Jones wasn't his only closeted same-sex relationship. Just in time to drum up more publicity for the HBO documentary The Trials of Ted Haggard comes word Haggard also had [...]
I actually wrote this some time ago and forgot to post it. Found it while cleaning my computer and thought I’d like to share it with queerfresno.com readers. Enjoy. I’ve never understood the French. From their love of raw meats to their unintelligible accents, they just confuse me beyond reason. This holds especially true when my [...]
Now it is truly a sense of deja vu as the nightclub has decided to go back to the name, the Express due to legal problems with their current name. Nothing has changed, just the name. Here is the statement from their website. Déjà vu is being forced to change the club’s name due to a United States Trademark that [...]

Below is an interview with GSA Network's National Program Manager, Danielle Askini -- another interview conducted at the Equality Summit. She wasn't speaking as a spokesperson for the GSA Network in this interview, but as an activist who worked in the No On Prop 8 campaign.

Danielle publicly identifies as transgender. She, like Sara Beth Brooks, is also in her mid-twenties.

Issues discussed in the interview include California's Proposition 8, grassroots participation in the marriage equality movement, and transgender participation in the marriage equality movement. The interview is about 10 minutes long.

Do you remember in days gone by when gay men were were almost always portrayed as fruity, effeminate men in high heels? -- apparently this is still the image of LGBT people within Randy Thomasson's mind...

Randy ThomassonThe homosexual activists never stop claiming to be victims, even when they have an iron stiletto heel upon your neck. They will claim that they are being victimized by you. They're intolerant, and now they're pushing even more legislation in the California government."

--Randy Thomasson, founder and president of California's Campaign for Children and Families (CCF), as quoted at OneNewsNow

If folk like Thomasson don't want to be called intolerant, homophobic, or bigoted, then perhaps they shouldn't use the language of intolerance, homophobia, or bigotry.

And, the LGBT community has "an iron stiletto heel upon [their] neck[s]"? Oh please.

As I said prior to attending the Equality Summit, I was going to cover the event from a different perspective than the mainstream perspective. So, I looked for a couple of voices that we wouldn't likely see in the front of the room.

So, below is an interview with Sara Beth Brooks of the San Diego Equality Campaign. In her role as the Executive Chair for this grass roots organization, she was the lead organizer of the 20,000 participant Join The Impact march in San Diego. She's in her mid-twenties, and publicly identifies as a B within the LGBT community.

The interview is about seven-and-a-half minutes long.

The media is reporting that rallies are being organized in support and against the Mayor. There's lots of info swirling around, but two events seem concrete enough to share with the public.
