Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother found slain in home

The mother and brother of Jennifer Hudson were found shot dead Friday at a South Side home, according to police reports.  Darnell Donerson, Hudson's 57 year-old mother, and Jason Hudson, her 29 year-old brother, were found fatally wounded by a neighbor.

The nephew of Hudson--who was also in the home at the time of the incident--was reported missing as well.

According to police, there was some sort of "domestic disturbance" which led to the shooting.  A suspect named William Balfour, whose relation to the Hudson family has not yet been announced, is currently in custody in relation to the slayings.

Apple Inc. has issued a statement opposition Proposition 8, the ballot meaure that, if passed, would eliminate the right to marry for gay couples in California, according to a release on the company's website.

Apple has also donated $100,000 to the No on 8 effort.

"Apple was among the first California companies to offer equal rights and benefits to our employees’ same-sex partners, and we strongly believe that a person’s fundamental rights — including the right to marry — should not be affected by their sexual orientation. Apple views this as a civil rights issue, rather than just a political issue, and is therefore speaking out ...

The man accused of killing Tony Randolph Hunter, a gay Marylander, now faces a charge of involuntary rather than voluntary manslaughter.

D.C. Superior Court Judge Frederick Weisberg made the change during a 90-minute hearing for defendant Robert Lee Hannah, 18. Weisberg found that prosecutors failed to show probable cause that Hannah committed the more serious offense of voluntary manslaughter.

The judge’s decision came after defense attorney Madeline Harvey argued that Hannah and a witness told police that Hannah punched Hunter during a chance encounter only after Hunter touched Hannah on the groin and buttocks.
