Tampa Looks to Score With Lesbian Basketball Fans

Women’s basketball sees the NCAA Tournament Final Four take place in Tampa this weekend. With the girls coming to town (including many lesbian sport fans), area businesses are gearing up to cater to their needs.

Nearby Ybor City is prepared to welcome the influx, according to a story published by the St. Petersburg Times and posted online at tampabay.com.

Ybor City’s events for the weekend include Bounce (billed as the largest party for women in the area) and a lineup of female musical talent at nightspots, plus Underground, a local club, will host the National Center for Lesbian Rights’ "mega party," according to the St. Petersburg Times article.

Doubtless, there will be plenty of heterosexual women among the projected 21,600+ fans that the St. Pete Times Forum is expected to accommodate during the games on Apr. 6 and Apr. 8.

But last year’s Final Four, which took place in Cleveland, drew a big lesbian crowd; some say at least half the fans in Cleveland were lesbians, while others say the figure was higher still.
