Phoenix Pride: The annual Pride Parade and Festival begins



The festivities kick off Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Pride Parade along a one-mile stretch of Third Street from Thomas north to Indian School. Floats and other traditional parade festivities are entertaining for all ages, but don't be surprised to see a little extra skin on the route. Booty shorts, Speedos and bikinis are not altogether uncommon.

On Saturday, catch dance music group Exposé, who churned out seven Billboard Top-100 singles in the '80s and earned the distinction of most popular girl group of the decade, and the self-appointed "Dyke Diva" Lori Michaels.

On Sunday, take in acclaimed Scottish singer Sheena Easton, the up-and-coming bi-lingual songstress Kat DeLuna, and the over-the-top comedy stylings of Cheril Vendetti.
