Equality March Map The National Equality March 2009 will take place on Sunday, October 11, at 12 noon, and will begin on 15th Street between H & I, wind its way past the White House and then continue down Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to the US Capitol Building. A Rally will then take place on the west lawn of the Capitol immediately afterward at 2pm.

Marshall Wong Of those coming to D.C. for the National Equality March, Marshall Wong's face may be one of the more familiar to Washingtonians. Although a Los Angeles native, Wong, who recently turned 50, lived in D.C. from 1986 to 1997, even working as the first special assistant to the mayor for Asian and Pacific Islander (API) affairs in 1987. He was also back here in April to be honored at the  Pride and Heritage celebration for his work as co-chair of API Equality-Los Angeles, fighting for marriage equality in California.
But marriage isn't the only front on which Wong fights. He also works for the L.A. County Commission on Human Relations coordinating the county's programs to tackle hate crimes.
As busy as these two roles may keep him, Wong decided that coming out to march was a worthwhile effort to add to the mix. ...more

Gay marriage advocates say they've collected $2.7 million for their campaign to defeat Question 1 on the Nov. 3 ballot.

NO on 1/Protect Maine Equality released the figure on Tuesday, the last day political action committees can file their latest reports with state campaign regulators. The campaigns are trying to persuade voters through TV ads and other media in advance of the Nov. 3 people's veto referendum. Maine's gay marriage law was passed by lawmakers and signed by Gov.
